Among Latin American countries, Costa Rica ranks 4th in terms of the 2007 Human Development Index, and 48th worldwide. Costa Rica is ranked 5th in the world in the 2008 Environmental Performance Index, up from the 15th place in 2006. In 2007, the government of Costa Rica said they want Costa Rica to be the first country to become carbon neutral by 2021.

Forget about 2008. Forget about winter for a few days and spend that lazy period between Christmas and New Year in Costa Rica. Kick off the singles Eco-adventure vacation on 26 December in San Jose then move on to the Tortuguero National Park on the Atlantic Coast. By boats back to Caño Blanco or Matina port where a private transfer takes travelers to the Arenal Area to visit the Titokú Hot Mineral Springs to bathe in the pools at the feet of the Arenal Volcano. Celebrate New Year at La Guarida del Sapo with music, dancing and dinner.
Hike in the Cloud Forest
After lunch on New Year’s Day at Monteverde, the group goes to the Sky Tram and Sky Way. The next day the Eco Adventure Vacation singles spend their last full day on a hike in the Monteverde reserve for three hours. The reserve is the better known of the two cloud forest reserves and covers around 10,500 hectares.
